The Project
New Salt Dome and Site Remodelling
Project Value
£1,000,000
Following on from previous severe winters Gloucestershire County Council embarked on a programme to increase their salt stocks in line with the Winter Resilience Review. DSC was appointed to design schemes for four different sites which involved demolishing existing salt stores and storage facilities, erecting new salt domes and upgrading existing hard surfaces and drainage.
Design input was required, especially for the two sites located within the Cotswolds AONB and the Forest of Dean. Because these were substantial structures being introduced into the landscape we provided accurate visualisations of the proposed schemes from various key viewpoints to prove that the visual impact was negligible. As well as providing information to guide these schemes through the planning system, consultation with the Environment Agency was needed on one particular site to ensure that the proposals would not impact on a nearby stream and SSSI.
On all four projects we collaborated closely with a specialist supply chain and overcame the many challenges associated with a project of this nature. We are proud to have played our part in ensuring that Gloucestershire will be prepared for future severe winters.
