The John & Joan Cooke Centre is a spacious facility with generous ceiling heights and floor to ceiling glazing. It is a pleasant environment in which to study, consisting of four Seminar Rooms, a Library and an ICT Suite. It also has a mezzanine used as an informal breakout space within a double height atrium linking back to the existing school building. Since the building work was completed the school has used this atrium space in several different ways, including for performances and exhibitions, making this a truly flexible space for the students and teachers.

As well as helping to release significant capital funding from central government, DSC was employed by the school to provide a full range of architectural and project management services. This meant seeing our proposed design through the planning, tendering, contract procurement and building construction phases.

The finished building is a well-designed, well-constructed and functional piece of architecture, standing up to the rigours of everyday and robust use in a secondary school environment.
