Replacement Windows, Doors and Curtain Walling

Project Value

We have carried out work in numerous schools to replace windows, doors and curtain walling. Very often the windows being replaced are single glazed and the curtain walling dates from the 1950s – 60s. Reasons for replacement includes poor energy efficiency and risk to health & safety or just general dilapidation due to their age.

The logistics of replacing windows and curtain walling in a working school can be challenging. We like to foster a close collaborative relationship between the contractor and the school and insist on there being an agreed and detailed programme before work starts. This way the school can plan which classrooms will not be available for use on which particular day.

Existing windows currently being replaced are likely to have asbestos material either in their seals or in the linings. Work is therefore undertaken only after an asbestos survey has been carried out and the removal of the asbestos has been factored into both the programme and the cost.

We have been successful in helping schools and academy trusts apply for funding for window replacement and we have overseen and completed projects on numerous sites.
