Extension to Sixth Form and New Entrance

Project Value

This is the main entrance building at Wyedean School. It has a welcoming reception space, a functional suite of offices for the admin staff and six generously sized classrooms. An increase in the size of the school’s sixth form had meant there was a pressing need for additional teaching space. Based on previous work we had carried out at the school, DSC was approached and asked to design a suitable teaching block to fulfil this need. We were also asked separately to look at the school’s administration spaces and its main entrance, to see if these could be made more efficient in everyday use and more welcoming to visitors.

Working in collaboration with the school we proposed a new building that would answer these two different briefs in one solution. After working through the various options and agreeing on the building’s design we worked in partnership with the school to release significant capital funds from central government, so that the project could be realised. We then guided the scheme through the planning system and the tendering & procurement process before overseeing the building work on site through to the completion of the project.

The school now has a building that is fitting for this prominent position at the front of the school site and DSC is proud of what the project team as a whole was able to achieve for the school.
